Green by Ted Dekker
Green, by Ted Dekker, is a Christian fiction book that is very allegorical. Thomas Hunter, a man from the present time in Denver, Colorado, somehow traveled to the future to an alternate future of sorts. At least thats what I understand. Note that I have not read any of the other three books in this series. In this alternate future, the Earth is very primitive again, almost to the degree of ancient Israel. And…everything that is spiritual for real, has been made physical in this alternate future. The book’s version of God, Elyon, is similar to the real God. I didn’t see anything in Green about a trinity, but I did see a “father” and a “son”.
One thing this book contains, which I don’t really like, is possession by this book’s version of demons. This stuff is freaky, and I think the book goes into too much detail on things that seem almost satanic in nature, such as witchcraft, possession, and such.
Overall, the story of the book is good. There is much Christian symbolism in Green, sometimes even direct quotes of Scripture. But I think the book was wasted on the witchy parts of the story and descriptions.
