The [expanded] Bible (New Testament)

The Expanded Bible New Testament, by Thomas Nelson Publishers, is an interesting spin on the Bible. The Expanded Bible takes the translation and adds extra shades of meaning of the Hebrew and Greek words. These extra meanings will be in brackets like this: [pizza]. This is similar in style to the Amplified Bible, but while the Amplified Bible uses formal equivalence for method of translation, the Expanded Bible is a re-take on the New Century Version (NCV). The NCV is translated with dynamic equivalence. Also in brackets are traditional readings, such as those from the King James Version of the Bible (KJV). Sometimes there will also be more literal readings or comments in brackets as well. Also, the Expanded Bible notes textual variant readings with a superscript “n”.

All in all, the Expanded Bible is a good tool to “expand” your understandig of God’s holy Word.
